If you’ve been following along, you know we adore a little yin with our yang. Fashion, after all, has always been about balance—soft with sharp, bold with minimal, old with new. And this week, there’s no better time to talk about balance than September. Right below my own birthday comes what I like to call the “most wonderful time of the year”—NY Fashion Week.
To me, Fashion Week (much like a birthday) isn’t just about clothes. It’s about embracing the “new new”—a fresh year, a fresh season, a fresh perspective. And what better way to do that than with friends?
This season on the runway, I noticed something powerful: fashion communication feels a lot like friendship. A look, a silhouette, even a color story—when it’s done right, it speaks to you without needing words. Just like our closest friends, it knows us, challenges us, celebrates us, and sometimes surprises us.
Which brings me to this week’s question. Among friends, we might ask: What are you thinking? But in our world of fashion and friendship, that naturally translates to: What are you wearing? Because style is thought made visible. It’s the conversation before the conversation.
And we can’t complete this week without noticing what popped out to us at Fashion Week. Like friends often do, and it’s so magical when they come back from it, we loved the trend that is rising. We call it The Clash. This season, clashing patterns and clashing colors tell our story. Boldly mismatched yet perfectly aligned—just like friendship. Different personalities, different moods, all stitched together into one unforgettable narrative.

So as we step into the season ahead, the real chic note is this: what you wear reflects not only your mood, but your mindset. Fashion—and friends—will always reveal what you’re truly thinking.
Tootles for now,
Elocin
